I should have been in Dublin – Ireland at the SITE Global Conference 2021, another event that has fallen to the global pandemic. But thankfully with online meeting technology the global incentive travel community has been able to meet online.

Day one was full of great education, trend analysis and build back stronger learnings. But the best part for me was connecting again with friends made in the association over a period of 20 years plus. A real reflection on how I value those friendships, how important they have been and continue to be in my career and business. In times of uncertainty, it’s critical to have trusted allies in all key destinations where our clients have an interest. Being connected to the very best destination management expertise and knowing how to position for a post-pandemic recovery.

I was also super proud of the Africa Site chapter for being celebrated in the Chapter awards as Site’s rising star award. The Africa chapter was a natural extension of the strong South Africa chapter, that opened its doors to many professional incentive industry members on the African continent.

Congratulations also to Aoife Delaney President Site global and Terry Manion President Site Foundation for starting your roles as SITE leaders, two wonderful people that will no doubt do a great job.

I look forward to this evening when day two’s many educational events and speakers will fill our minds with new ideas and connections.
